Senkiw Suspension Bridge

We loved hiking in B.C. and Alberta, but now that we are living in Manitoba, we figured it was time to find our places here.  It seems that this summer, we have been deciding we need to find a good hike on a Sunday afternoon - when our weekend is almost done, and we're trying to hang onto it as long as we can!  So we have had to find spots within a reasonable distance of our home.  This was one of those hikes.  This gate marked the start of the hike.
The only people we met, were on the other side of the bridge, and they were surprised that we started where we did.  However, it seemed that starting on the other side would have been a bit anti-climatic.  The bridge was a perfect 'destination' after hiking through pasture and fields.

The beauty of Manitoba skies added to our enjoyment of the day.

I don't have pictures of the mosquitoes that plagued our walk, but armed with bug spray, we were determined they would not ruin an otherwise beautiful summer day.

It is not a long bridge, but it has an interesting history.  It was originally built by farmers as an all-season route for school children to get to school.

Bluebells and goldenrod.

Almost back at our vehicle... the path that took us through pasture and fields.

I'm Back

I've been contemplating blogging.  Starting a blog with a name like "A Little of This, and a Little of That" - to be able to blog about food, photography, hiking, and a myriad other interests.
Then I remembered I had a blog.  With a name like "Debs Journal" it could quite easily be a little of this and a little of that.  Hmmm... No promises, but when I have a need to write, I certainly can write here!
