The Wisdom of a Two-Year-Old

Yesterday we had a pretty spectacular thunderstorm.  Haley's mom sent this in an email today.

This morning:
Haley: Where did the lightening go, Mommy?
Me: It's all gone. It just came for a little while as a special treat for us.
Haley: And the rain is gone too!
Me: That's right.
Haley: Maybe the rain had to go to home. Maybe the lightening is at his house.

Maybe...

Sunday at the Park

Just a few of my favorite photos from this afternoon at the park.

Summer in March

Walking down the street in rural Manitoba in sandals and a sleeveless top.
ATV's heading down the main drag.
Skateboarders passing me on the sidewalk.
People in shorts, out walking their dogs.
Sounds like summer, doesn't it?
But it isn't even spring yet!  And we're in Manitoba!  Global warming?  Whatever the cause, it's hard to dislike this weather!
It was a day for cleaning decks, hanging laundry, bbq's, and walks in the park.  We did all of the above.
No, it wasn't really above 30 - this is in the sun.  But we had 20ish temperatures this weekend and broke all sorts of temperature records in this province.
The ice on the river reminds us that winter hasn't completely disappeared even if it feels like summer.

Our long walk in St Vital Park just made us want more, so we'll find a park for a lunch bbq after church on Sunday.

March 2012 - Sioux Lookout

We have three of our family birthdays in March, so we all headed out to Sioux Lookout on a recent weekend to celebrate together.  We took advantage of the beautiful weather, and the walking trails near their place.  We wouldn't have known when to turn around if it wasn't for one hungry child!

Sioux Lookout had a lot of snow, which made the toboggan useful, but we realized already the second day that it would have been rather mushy to pull a toboggan.  We generously left it there for Josiah, which is a bit of a joke now!  They do not have room to store anything, and haven't been able to use it since because of the lack of snow.

The kids loved being back together, and played extremely well, even though their playing 'together' still often means they are both doing their own thing in the same room.  Apparently phones are THE toy these days!

We were able to use the pool at the hotel for another activity, which Annika probably enjoyed more than anyone!  Haley wasn't into getting wet this time!
 Up on his uncle's shoulders!
I want both the bottle and soother!  What's wrong with that?
And for the best smiles in the house... here's Annika!
Hard to catch this goofy look on camera, but her auntie managed to capture it!
A picture of Haley playing...wait! nope!  It's Josiah!!
Great weekend!
